SayChar (the "app") is built with privacy as the default. This policy explains — plainly — what information the app does and does not handle.
The only information SayChar processes is the text you enter into the app's text field. That text is used to look up phonetic names for display and, if you tap Read Aloud, to generate on-device speech using the operating system's built-in speech synthesizer (AVSpeechSynthesizer). This processing happens entirely on your device.
SayChar does not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, location, health data, identifiers for advertising (IDFA), device identifiers, or any other data on your device. SayChar does not read your clipboard automatically; it only receives text that you explicitly type or paste into the input field.
SayChar makes no outbound network requests. It has no server component. It does not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, advertising SDKs, or any other third-party services.
The text you enter is held only in memory for the duration of your session. Closing the app removes it. SayChar does not write your input to disk, iCloud, or any other persistent storage.
Read-aloud playback uses the iOS built-in speech synthesizer. Depending on the voice you have selected in Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices, iOS may or may not have downloaded that voice for on-device use. SayChar does not choose or control this behavior — it uses whichever voice iOS provides. Consult Apple's privacy documentation for details on Apple's speech features.
SayChar does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Because SayChar collects no information at all, it is safe to use by users of any age.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
