Creating your first list
- Open RemListDB and tap the + button on the Lists tab.
- Enter a name, then choose a color and an icon to personalize the list.
- Tap the new list to open it and start adding reminders.
Adding and managing items
- Add: type a title in the field at the top of a list and tap + to create the item. New items are created with just a title — tap the row afterward to add notes, a priority, or a due date.
- Complete: tap the circle next to an item, or swipe right.
- Edit: tap the item row (or swipe left and choose Edit) to change the title, notes, priority, or due date.
- Delete: swipe left and tap Delete.
- Move: swipe left and tap Move to reassign the item to a different list.
Searching and sorting
- Pull down on any list to reveal the search bar.
- Tap the ··· menu in the toolbar to sort by name, date added, due date, or priority.
- When sorted alphabetically, use the letter index on the right to jump quickly through long lists.
Backing up your data
- Open Settings → Data → Export to JSON to save a timestamped backup.
- Backups live in the RemListDB/Backups folder under On My iPhone/iPad/Mac in the Files app.
- To restore, choose Import from JSON and pick either Merge (combine with current data) or Replace (wipe everything and load the backup).
Frequently asked questions
Does RemListDB sync between my devices?
RemListDB stores data locally on each device for privacy and reliability. To move data between devices, use Export to JSON on one device, share the file (AirDrop, Files, iCloud Drive — your choice), then use Import from JSON on the other device.
What happens if I delete a list?
The items inside the list are not deleted — they're moved to the Unfiled section so you never lose your reminders. You can reassign them to any other list at any time, or delete them individually if you want.
How do I enable due-date notifications?
Open Settings → Notifications → Due Date Reminders and turn the switch on. RemListDB will ask iOS for notification permission the first time you enable it. If you decline, the switch will turn back off automatically — re-enable it in the system Settings app under Notifications to opt back in.
Why don't I see my backup file?
Backups appear inside the Files app under On My iPhone (or iPad / Mac) → RemListDB → Backups. They only appear after you export at least one backup. If the folder is missing, try the export again — the folder is created the first time you tap Export to JSON.
What is the difference between Merge and Replace import?
Merge combines a backup with what's already in the app: lists and items matched by their unique ID are updated, entries with the same name as something existing are skipped as duplicates, and everything new is added.
Replace deletes every list and item currently in the app and then loads the backup from scratch. This cannot be undone, so RemListDB asks you to confirm before proceeding.
Can I hide due dates, priorities, or notes?
Yes. Open Settings → Display Options and toggle off anything you don't want to see. You can also hide completed items, list icons, and notes previews independently.
Does RemListDB work offline?
RemListDB does not require an internet connection. It does not make network requests and works fully offline. All data is stored locally on your device.
How do I reset RemListDB?
To remove everything in one step, export a backup first (in case you change your mind), then use Import from JSON → Replace with an empty backup, or delete the app from your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data permanently.
Which devices and OS versions are supported?
RemListDB runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac running current Apple operating systems. For exact minimum-OS requirements, see the App Store listing.
I found a bug or have a feature request — what should I do?
Please email galew5515@gmail.com with as much detail as you can: what you were doing, what you expected, what happened, and the device and OS version you're using. We read every message.
