Pace Limerick

In a previous limerick for Teri Miller I mentioned the Pace project. This limerick and the next one were written while sitting in a design meeting for that project. It seemed like the design phase of the project was taking forever, and there didn't seem to be a feeling of urgency in the project to get the design completed and get on with implementation. I'm afraid I didn't make a lot of friends in the group. I kept asking if management was prepared to let them go on with design for very much longer. It was my understanding that this was meant to be a sort of crash project with a total projected time of a year or two. The project was now well into the second year and, as yet, still in design. The problem seemed to be that the 3 key engineers on the project wanted to design the perfect system and weren't prepared to accept anything less. I had this very uncomfortable feeling that if something wasn't delivered soon, the project would be cancelled. Alas, that feeling proved to be prophetic.

Pace

There once was a system named Pace
OS bugs it was meant to erase.
It got stuck in design
For weeks at a time,
Lest its speed should prove a disgrace.
