To Mary

This poem was written for my mother-in-law, Mary Chipman.  She was with us for Christmas and this was a thank you note to her.  Each Christmas we have a tradition of singing Christmas carols and reading Christmas stories.  This poem was just my way of telling her how happy I am to be a part of her family and to have her and most of all her daughter as a part of mine.

To Mary

Thank you for making our Christmas so bright
And singing our songs on Christmas eve night.

And being so loving, so gentle and kind,
You're the best kind of grandma we ever could find.

And being so patient with each one of us
Through all the confusion and all of the fuss.

For being a friend for our girls and our boys,
For playing with dolls and all of their toys.

Thank you for sharing your memories of years
And all of your joys and all of your tears.

Thank you for sharing the wisdom of life
But most for my sweetheart, your daughter, my wife.
