The Hawk
While
attending the San Jose Giants baseball games, I met a young man named
Nino. He was an usher and in charge of
the section where I hold a season ticket. We had had other ushers and some seemed to do the job and others just
stood around waiting for the game to be over. But Nino was special. As soon as
he spotted someone from his section enter the grandstand and start toward their
seat, he was right there to wipe the seat off and make sure that you knew that
he knew that you were there. If someone attempted to sneak into the box seats
without a ticket, he was right there to move them out and direct them to the
proper area. He was so adept at
spotting people who didn't belong in the section that we began to call him
"The Hawk". I don't know what
his career will turn out to be but I would hire him in a moment.
