Frequently asked questions
Where are my documents stored?
JettDB stores documents in your own iCloud account via CloudKit. They sync automatically across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac signed in to the same Apple ID. If you turn iCloud off in Settings, documents stay on the device only.
Does JettDB collect any usage data?
No. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporting service, and no third-party tracking. The app does not require an account.
How do I switch between visual and text editing?
Open any document, then use the toolbar toggle (segmented control). On Mac you can also press the keyboard shortcut shown in the View menu. The document content is the same either way.
Does JettDB support JSON5?
Yes. Turn on JSON5 in Settings › Editor to allow comments, trailing commas, single-quoted strings, and unquoted keys. You can flip it per-document via the document menu.
How do I compare two documents?
In the file list, multi-select exactly two documents, then choose Compare. The diff view highlights additions, removals, and changes side by side.
What import sources are supported?
JSON and JSON Lines (.jsonl / .ndjson) files from the Files app or iCloud Drive, JSON pasted from the clipboard, and JSON fetched from a URL. CSV, YAML, and XML are export-only formats today.
Can I export to CSV, YAML, or XML?
Yes. From the editor's More menu choose Export as CSV, YAML, or XML. CSV needs an array of objects (columns come from every key seen across rows); YAML and XML work for any valid JSON.
How do I save and reuse a query?
Build the query in the Query Builder, then tap Save. Saved queries appear in the document's Saved Queries library and can be run again with one tap.
I lost a document. Can I recover it?
If iCloud sync is on, deleted documents may be recoverable from iCloud's recently deleted area for a limited window. Check iCloud.com › Settings › Restore Files within 30 days.
How do I restore the bundled sample document?
Settings › About › Restore Sample Document. A fresh copy is inserted; existing copies are kept and auto-renamed.
I found a bug. What should I include?

JettDB is built to be usable by everyone. Every screen supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, and conveys state without relying on color. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please let us know — we treat accessibility bugs as priority issues.
Refunds
Purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests are processed through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
